Landscape Painting
Justify Selection: I turned everything in on time, with all the requirements on the checklist. You can see a clear resemblance between my painting and the original with the same painting style as my artist has. My attention to detail is good with a lot trees and other things that really give the painting a lot of life like qualities.
Justify Your Selection: Worked hard and put a lot of attention to detail. My layering is good yet in some spots I had to go back and repaint over some. I used as many as my art skills as possible and put them so they so in my art work. I made my best effort for the color schemes and have really matched my artist's work as well as possible.

In the space below, please justify your placement on the above rubric for BOTH the technical and creative problem-solving standards. Each justification should be at least 4 complete sentences.
1. Technical Skills: I would give my self a 3, Meets the Standard. I don’t have much white space or a lot of big gaps in my piece. The glue has held strong, same goes for the modge-podging. When you look at the collage you can see that it is a face, yet you can’t totally tell its me, thats is why I gave my self a 3 not a 4.
2. Creative Problem-solving Skills: I would give my self Partially Meets the Standard. I definitely need more attention to detail and defining some of my features. Yet I can tell the difference between my face and background and other features, there should still be more of a difference so it looks more like the original photograph. I do have different values and for the most part it shows the different values of the original picture. Finally my nose looks flat and for the reasons written above i give my self a 2.75.
Why might the exercise of breaking down a photograph into value shapes help when you are drawing? When you brake down the photograph into different values you are given a different perspective of the picture. Also you can get a better understanding of the way you should shade your drawing with the positive and negative space. It will also help you make you piece look more alive and life like with the face features looking 3D. Also by braking it down into different value shapes you can get a better understanding of proportions of the the facial features.

1. Technical Skills Justification: I would give my self a 3.5 for technical skills. I did four complete drawings of four different plants in the room. Each one has its own unique and strong characteristics. For the most part my final drawings are clean and neat with no smudge or wrinkles. My attention to detail is also very strong with many small details thought u would not pick up from far away.
2. Creative Problem-Solving Skills Justification: I would give my self a 3.5-4 on creative problem solving skills. I think that my positive and negative space go really well together. They blend with a unique design showing a final piece of high quality. The pattern i used is also very unique i have not seen anyone use triangles before and it gives my piece and special look to it.
Why do artists make thumbnail sketches before starting a formal drawing? In what ways did it affect your work? Artists make thumbnail sketches before starting formal drawing so they can get a better idea of what they are drawing and they can perfect it before they start their final piece. It affected my work in a way that i would have never guessed. By doing the four drawings first i realized that my first drawing for nothing compared to my fourth. I think that since i did the four drawing first it intern made my final piece allot better than what it would have been if i just went right to my final piece.
4. Why does it matter what pattern you choose for your background? How do different patterns affect the “look” of this project? I think that different patters that you chose for your background matter because they will change the way you see your picture in the final product. If you pick a different pattern compared to another you will get a different look to you piece. You may end up with a pattern that makes the positive space really come out or you may have a background that makes the negative space come out more. I think it all depends on how close and how small you place your pattern.

Technical Skills Justification:I think that my work shows for a 3.5 in technical skills. Because most of mine are good yet on one of my leaf designs there are some glues smudges on it. When cutting my shapes i think that i did well. On most of my pieces there are not many glue marks. Over all i think my technical skills were good.
2. Creative Problem-Solving Skills Justification: I feel that my creative problem solving skills earn a 3. Because I think that i did these leave designs pretty well and to my understanding of TENSION, BALANCE, & RHYTHM. Showing allot of good balance. There is also many unique shapes in my pieces.
3. Which of the four designs do you feel is the most successful in terms of using positive and negative space well? Please explain. Probably my symmetrical design its the cleanest. Also i think its the neatest with most creative designs in it. Also my use of positive and negative space good. I think my use of all the paper is good too.
4. Which one of the four designs do you feel best communicates the assigned Principle of Art? Please explain. Also my symmetrical design because it shows balance and my comprehension of symmetrical design. Again it shows use of the paper and design. Also it just has more design and detail than most of my other pieces.
